Victoria Tube station was evacuated after a fire alert, with commuters being hurried from the transport hub as emergency services arrived.

One commuter shared on social media that they had been told the situation was “legitimately serious” and that they saw “many fire engines” outside the station.

Another asked: “I’ve just been evacuated from Victoria Station with an emergency tannoy. What the hell happened?”

Transport for London Access confirmed on social media: “This station is closed while we respond to a fire alert. London Buses are accepting tickets.”

Southern Rail also informed: “Due to a fire alert, London Victoria Underground station is currently closed.”

The service then posted: “Victoria Underground station has re-opened, and you can now use your normal route to travel.”

TFL also confirmed the station had reopened.

Victoria is one of London’s busiest stations, connecting the Victoria, District and Circle lines with National Rail services and long-distance coaches.

Transport for London reported delays across the Victoria and District lines.

Located in the City of Westminster near Buckingham Palace, the station is a key gateway for commuters, tourists, and passengers travelling to Gatwick Airport.
