Royal biographer Tom Bower has revealed what will happen to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie following the King’s decision to strip Andrew of his Prince title.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Bower explained that while Andrew has lost his title, his daughters will keep theirs protected by a royal decree.

Buckingham Palace released a statement this evening revealing that the royal will now be called Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Andrew has faced controversy in recent years due to his links to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Tom Bower said that he thinks that it is fair that the princesses can keep their titles

Mr Bower said: “The daughters of the son of a sovereign, that’s HRH Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, retain their titles because of the George V letters patent of 1917.

“I think in the end it boils down to this: why should the daughters suffer for the sins of the father?

“Wherever you go, people say they’re very decent young women who have only the best of intentions, and they shouldn’t be humiliated. I think that’s fair enough.”

Mr Bower added that the move against Andrew was “a matter of confronting him with reality”, saying the King had been decisive after years of damaging headlines.

“We understand this was initiated by the King and his brother didn’t object,” he said.

“That’s a polite way of saying he had no choice.”

He also questioned what would happen to Sarah Ferguson, the mother of the princesses, as she faces losing her home alongside Andrew.

“The idea of her moving into another royal estate is ridiculous,” Bower said.

“She’s a woman who’s never been able to control her spending, and that clearly has to be brought under control, as does Andrew’s.”

In a statement, the Palace said: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”

The statement added: “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
