Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two separate stabbings in Newry and Lurgan.

In the Newry incident, police say they were called to a house in the Woodhill area after 06:00 BST on Sunday, where a man with stab wounds was found inside.

And a man in his 40s is in a serious condition in hospital after he was stabbed in the back at a property in the Grattan Street area of Lurgan on Sunday afternoon.

Armed response officers were sent to the scene. The suspect, a 34-year-old man, was arrested a short distance away.

A man and woman in their 30s were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to the Newry incident.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has appealed to anyone with information on either incident to come forward.
