The Duchess of Sussex’s father, Thomas Markle, has allegedly been reported to the FBI following the discovery of child abuse material at a storage facility he allegedly rented in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.

The 82-year-old, who is already the subject of a police inquiry in the Philippines, faces mounting scrutiny after journalists from The Daily Mail allegedly accessed the unit, located roughly three miles from his former residence.

The storage space is claimed to have been leased and subsequently abandoned by Mr Markle, who relocated to the Mexican Pacific coast resort town in 2011.

GB News has contacted the FBI, Mr Markle and his daughter Samantha Markle, who has been caring for her father in Florida, for comment.

Mr Markle has strenuously rejected all child abuse accusations, branding them “sick lies” and claiming he was “set up”.

Rosarito Beach, a quiet coastal town on Mexico’s Pacific shoreline, was where Mr Markle had resided in a number of properties over several years.

The town gained wider public attention when he staged a set of paparazzi photos ahead of his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry.

Scotland Yard announced on Thursday that it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after acknowledging its failure to act on a letter alleging child sex offences against Mr Markle, which was received in January 2019.

The correspondence was authored by his first wife, Roslyn Loveless, and directed to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, the specialist unit responsible for assessing threats to members of the Royal Family and senior politicians.

Despite the gravity of the allegations, the Metropolitan Police did not forward the letter to “other law enforcement agencies” at the time.

The force confirmed it is now undertaking what it termed “a number of referrals to relevant overseas law enforcement agencies” concerning the various claims outlined in the correspondence.

The FBI is reported to be among those agencies now receiving referrals.

LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS:

A separate investigation into Mr Markle is already under way in the Philippines, where his son reported finding four storage boxes at the 82-year-old’s home in Cebu.

Those containers allegedly held what was described as “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sex abuse images.

While Mr Markle has acknowledged paying for sex during his time in the Philippines, he has vehemently denied any involvement in child abuse.

He has dismissed the accusations as “sick lies” and has suggested that the evidence was planted to incriminate him.
