A third person has been arrested as part of a murder investigation following the death of a “loving and loyal” man in Leicester.

George Glover, 27, was punched as he cycled along Narborough Road, close to the junction with Noel Street, at about 06:30 BST on Monday, Leicestershire Police said. He died in hospital on Thursday.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder on Friday and remains in custody.

A 31-year-old man and 39-year-old woman, who were previously arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit murder, also remain in custody, the force said.

In a tribute released by police on Friday, Glover’s family said they were “so proud of the young man he’d become”.

They said: “George was a much-loved son and big brother to his three siblings. His loss is already felt so deeply.”

Officers from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit are continuing to appeal for anyone who may be able to assist with their inquiries to get in touch.

Det Insp Kevin Hames said: “If you can help but haven’t yet contacted us, please be assured it’s not too late and anything you’re able to provide – including any footage – could be vital to our investigation.”
