The South African and James Coles ran into one another chasing a catch late in the first innings, in which reach MI London reached 164-5.

Pretorius left the field after the incident but was fit to open the Spirit innings and hit three fours and seven sixes in his 28-ball innings, which started with a 63-run partnership with Jonny Bairstow (23).

The 20-year-old added a further 38 with Liam Livingstone (16) before he was caught by Sherfane Rutherford off the bowling of Richard Gleeson.

James Rew (19) and Dewald Brevis (37 from 18) finished the job off for Spirit, who won with 11 balls to spare.

Both Jacks and Pooran were dismissed by Jamie Overton, who later removed Jason Roy (13) for figures of 3-30.

Rutherford accelerated at the close for MI, striking a 19-ball 41 that featured four sixes before he was caught by Coles off Andrew Tye from the last ball of the innings.
