Britons have been urged to check their children’s magazines after Tesco issued a recall for a popular Peppa Pig publication.

The affected magazine, issue 419, features a cover-mounted toy that poses a serious choking risk to young children.

Tesco has confirmed the toy attachment can break apart into small pieces.

In light of this, Tesco and publisher Story House Egmont have issued a recall, warning families to “stop using the product immediately” and take swift action to protect their children.

Story House Egmont confirmed the product is “dangerous”, stating: “The key comes apart and causes small parts, which means the product is not safe for children under three years as the labelling indicates.”

The company emphasised: “Safety is of paramount importance to us, so we advise anyone who has this gift to dispose of it.”

Families who have purchased the affected magazine can return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, without needing to provide proof of purchase.

The supermarket has confirmed that staff have been briefed on the recall and will process returns straight away.

Customers can dispose of the toy in their household waste

For additional assistance, concerned parents can reach Story House Egmont’s customer service team on 0204 526 0855. The publisher’s offices are located at 27-30 Lime Street, London EC3M 7HR.

Alternatively, customers can dispose of the toy in their household waste or return it to the publisher’s address for a refund.

Tesco’s customer service team is also available through its website for any queries about the recall.

This safety alert coincides with another product recall affecting shoppers across the UK.

One Stop has pulled its Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps from shelves after undeclared milk was found in the product.

The Food Standards Agency confirmed three batches of the 150g bags may pose a risk to customers with dairy allergies or intolerances.

The affected products carry best-before dates of February 17, February 18, and February 23, all 2026.

Shoppers have been advised to follow the typical recall process, return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Those who require further information about the recall have been encouraged to contact the customer services team at 01543 363133.

Both recalls highlight the importance of product safety monitoring and the need for consumers to remain vigilant about checking recall notices.

For the latest food recalls, Britons can consult the Food Standards Agency’s official website. Product recalls can be accessed via the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Alternatively, all major retailers, including supermarkets, have dedicated web pages where safety notices are being displayed.
