Rail services are being cut as Storm Éowyn heads into north-west England.
In Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside, passengers are being warned against travelling on the transport networks.
Transpennine Express has urged customers not to travel between Manchester and Liverpool and there will be no Avanti West Coast services travelling north of Preston.
Northern has said there are no trains between Chester and Manchester Victoria and between Manchester Victoria and Leeds and there are reports of fallen trees on the M6 near Lancaster.
The Woodhead Pass has also been closed and Manchester Airport is advising passengers to check with their airlines for any cancellations or delays.
