Stockport County have been dealt a blow to their promotion hopes after confirming defender Brad Hills has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 22-year-old picked up the injury moments after half-time during County’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Saturday.

Hills has been an important part of the Stockport side which currently lies fifth in League One, starting 27 out of the Hatters’ 37 league matches.

He initially joined Stockport on a loan deal from hometown club Norwich City in February 2025 before making the move permanent in the summer.

A club statement said the injury would rule him out “for the foreseeable future” without putting a time frame on how long that would be.

The Hatters continue their League One campaign with a home clash against AFC Wimbledon at Edgeley Park on Saturday (15:00 GMT).
