Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh donned a “classic” look as she attended the Coral Gold Cup Meeting at Newbury Racecourse, alongside her husband, Prince Edward.

The royal, 60, picked out a khaki crepe coatdress from Claire Mischevani, a British designer renowned for its structured silhouettes.

The dress had a high neckline and a belt at the waist to complete the classy appearance.

Sophie has worn the piece on multiple occasions in the past, including the Royal Family’s Christmas service in 2023.

She also wore a stunning straw hat that featured a bright pink band.

The 60-year-old carried a purple clutch, which was embellished with her initials.

Global fashion stylist Gabrielle Mai described the look as a “classic” piece.

She told Hello!: “[It] leans classic, but it’s executed with the duchess’s usual quiet polish.

“The deep olive coat creates a long silhouette that feels both refined and practical for a country engagement.”

Commenting on the accessories, the stylist said: “Her two-tone hat is the most expressive touch; the pop of berry against the neutral brim adds just enough personality without breaking the overall harmony.

“What’s lovely is how subtly coordinated she and Edward appear.”

The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at the racecourse in a smart grey suit, with a white shirt and blue tie.

Sophie ‘subtly coordinated’ with Edward at the races.

The stylist noted: “His earthy suit tones and green tie sit comfortably alongside her palette, giving the impression of a unified, well-considered pairing.”

The 60-year-old’s outing was the first since his peppercorn deal was reported.

His agreement at Bagshot Park in Surrey has been branded “obscene”, just weeks after it was revealed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had a similar set-up at Royal Lodge.

Crown Estate documents show Edward pays merely a token rent for Bagshot Park, his 51-acre residence near Bracknell, following a £5million advance payment in 2007.

Sophie has worn the piece on multiple occasions in the past.

The revelation has sparked criticism that the property acts as a taxpayer-funded subsidy for King Charles’s younger brother, as the Crown Estate’s revenues normally go to the public purse.

Campaigners contend that the Bagshot Park estate could generate significant income if leased commercially, questioning why the 15th-in-line to the throne benefits from such favourable terms.

The prince’s 2007 agreement, carried out through his company, Eclipse Nominees Limited, secured a 150-year lease of the Grade II-listed property.

The arrangement allows the duke to potentially profit from selling the lease, provided that any future occupant can demonstrate the financial capacity to maintain the mansion.
