Six people have been arrested in East Lothian after a man was abducted in Edinburgh.
Police Scotland said it received a report that a man had been abducted in the Canonmills area of the capital at about 22:30 on Thursday.
A 22-year-old man was later traced in Longniddry on Friday and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Five men – aged 21, 21, 22, 23 and 45 – and a 40-year-old woman have been arrested and police say inquiries are ongoing.
A section of the A198, which runs through the village of Longniddry, has been shut by police and a diversion is in place.
Officers believe this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the wider public.
Det Insp Robbie Wallace said: “We understand an incident of this nature will be concerning but please be assured our inquiries are ongoing.
“Police will remain in the Longniddry area while this investigation continues and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers.”
One report on social media said armed officers had been seen removing someone from a car.
Lothian Buses posted that some services were unable to serve the village and its routes had been diverted due to the road closure.
Longniddry is a coastal village about 15 miles (24km) from Cannonmills.
