Households are preparing to receive Cold Weather Payments after Storm Goretti brought snow and sub-zero temperatures to hundreds of thousands of postcode areas across the UK.

As it stands, eligible Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) claimants are eligible for the energy bill benefit can receive £25 for every seven days of extremely cold weather they experience with payments


While some Britons have received up to £75 due to experiencing three consecutive weeks of cold weather, some are calling for the benefit’s payment rate to be raised to better support vulnerable families.
