The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) shared that the Waizhiua Hot Glue Gun and the Recessed Ceiling Light could electrocute people.
Both products did not meet the requirement of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 with the glue gun also not meeting the requirements of the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
The imports of the products have been rejected at the border.

Waizhiua Hot Glue Gun
Type: Electrical appliances and equipment – Hot Glue Gun
Batch: Waizhiua-MS247
Amazon Product Identifiers: X001YS4687, FBA15JJ3T8XNU000010
Country of Origin: China
Product Description: A small plastic hot glue gun with a wall plug attached.
The OPSS said the Recessed Ceiling Light: “Presents a high risk of electric shock due to inadequate insulation levels. The flying leads were simply connected to a terminal block, leaving metal parts insulated from live parts by basic insulation only.
“Should this basic insulation fail, accessible metal parts could become live, causing the user to receive an electric shock. The product also failed the electric strength test as the insulation broke down when the 3000V test voltage was applied.
“The instructions were deemed inadequate as they did not contain sufficient information to ensure the product is correctly and safely installed, used and maintained. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.”
The glue gun posed a risk of fires
OPSS
The OPSS said the Waizhiua Hot Glue Gun: “Presents a serious risk of electric shock due to the plug pins being too close to the periphery of the plug.
“Users can access live parts when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket. Additionally, the earth pin is sheathed, so it does not contact the earth in the socket properly.
“The plug is a ‘clover-style’ plug, which provides insufficient protection against the risk of fire as it is inadequately earthed.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994 or the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.”
