Government figures show that a quarter of imprisoned foreign sex offenders are from just five countries.
Poland, Ireland, Pakistan, India and Romania make up 457 of the foreign sex offenders in prisons in England and Wales, according to Ministry of Justice (MoJ) figures obtained by The Telegraph under Freedom of Information laws.
That number represented one in four of the 1,731 foreign sex offenders who were in prison in June.
It is an increase of 9.9 per cent in a year, figures show.
In that same period, the increase in the number of Britons in jail for the same type of offences was 3.8 per cent.
The figures come in the midst of high-profile sexual and violent crimes committed by foreign nationals.
Ethiopian asylum seeker Hadush Kebatu, 41, was last week forcibly deported.

PAShadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said it was “yet more evidence that migrants from some nationalities are more likely to commit certain crimes”.
“We need the full data published now,” the MP declared.
“Every day Keir Starmer covers it up and refuses to act, he is putting the British people at risk.”
The figures further showed that Bangladeshis were more likely than any other nationality to be in prison for sex offences, either convicted or on remand.

More than four in 10 – 42.3 per cent – of the 130 Bangladeshis held in prison were there for sex offences.
That was more than double the rate for Britons imprisoned at 19.2 per cent.
Kenyans followed on 37 per cent, Sudanese on 35.1 per cent, Ethiopians on 34.9 per cent, Eritreans on 33.8 per cent, Nigerian on 33.6 per cent, Central Africans on 28.6 per cent and Syrians on 26.9 per cent.
However, Romanians dominated foreign sex offenders in jail, accounting for 121.
They were followed by Pakistan with 95, Poland with 81, India with 80 and Ireland with 80.
Almost a third of foreign criminals jailed for crimes of violence came from just six countries.
Poland topped the list with 306, Ireland followed with 261, Romania with 182, Jamaica with 163 and Pakistan on 129.
An MOJ spokesman said the Government “is deporting foreign national offenders at pace”.
“More than 5,000 (were) deported last year,” the spokesman said.
“A 14 per cent increase on the previous year.
“And, as part of our Plan for Change, we have gone further by changing the law so foreign prisoners can be deported earlier than ever before.”
