Shakira has confessed she didn’t find it easy to ‘recognise her vulnerability’ in the wake of her split from Gerard Piqué after 11 years.

The former couple confirmed the end of their 11-year relationship in June 2022, shortly after former FC Barcelona and Spain footballer Pique was accused of cheating on the singer.
Discussing how the healing process is portrayed in her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, the singer confessed: ‘It wasn’t easy to recognize all the vulnerability I was feeling at the time I wrote this album, and then to lay it bare.
‘For many months after my separation I had been silent, trying to begin my mourning, but I couldn’t really begin to grieve until I started writing music.’

She explained: ‘It was my way of healing. And it continues to be. Grief is a process that is not linear. It is full of peaks and valleys.’

Throughout the album each track details Shakira’s differing emotions in the wake of the split, from thanking him for their time together to reproaching him for his narcissism.
In the wake of Gerard’s split with the South American singer, he began a romance with Clara Chia Marti and there is also a song on the album where Shakira admits her life has gotten better after leaving him as she confesses that seeing him with the new woman hurt her.
In January last year video footage emerged which was said to have shown Gerard’s girlfriend in the footballer’s family home before his split from Shakira.
Shakira, who shares sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine, with Gerard, was reportedly left ‘devastated’ at the unearthed footage from August 2021, which was recorded 10 months before she announced she had split from her partner.
The star previously admitted she had ‘a love/hate relationship’ with her career throughout her relationship before declaring: ‘In a way it’s kind of good not to have a husband because it was dragging me down.’

Speaking about her upcoming tour she added: ‘I deserve it after so many years working in this world. I deserve the tour of my life. I am throwing the house out the window’
And now Shakira has revealed she is excited to bring the ‘tour of my life’ to fans.
She told GQ: ‘It is the most ambitious tour of my entire career, the biggest production I have had so far.
‘Not because the public asks for it, but because I deserve it after so many years working in this world. I deserve the tour of my life. I am throwing the house out the window.
‘I am happy because I will be able to go through the different stages of my artistic life, up to today. It will be the longest show I have done with the biggest screen and everything as big as you can imagine. More is more and better!’
Embracing life now she is no longer in a relationship, the lyrics to the afrobeat track Soltera translate to: ‘I am allowed to behave badly in order to have a good time.
‘Now I can do whatever I want, I have a great time single/alone’.

Gerard’s new girlfriend and co-worker Clara appeared to be in the background of a Zoom interview in 2021 which was conducted from his family home in Barcelona, while Shakira was reportedly abroad with their two children.
The interview footage showed a woman resembling Clara stepping into the frame as Gerard spoke to US video live streaming service Twitch.
Speaking to Page Six, an insider claimed Gerard and Shakira were still living ‘happily together’ at the time.
The source said at the time that the singer was ‘devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the house they shared with their children. They were very much still together at that time.
‘It’s devastating for her to learn that this affair had been going on for a lot longer than she imagined.’
