Scott Miles has been axed from his role at the BBC, it has been confirmed today.

In a statement to The Mirror, the BBC said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.”

GB News has contacted the BBC for comment.

The BBC is said to have informed staff on Monday morning.

According to The Mirror, Lorna Clarke, Director of Music, said in a statement to staff: “I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC.

“I know that this news will be sudden and unexpected and therefore must come as a shock.

“Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV. I felt it was important to share this news with you at the earliest opportunity.”

The statement is reported to have continued: “Of course, it will also come as a shock to our audience and loyal breakfast show listeners too.

I will update everyone with more information on plans for the show when I’m able to.

“While I appreciate many of you will have questions, I hope you can understand that I am not going to be saying anything further now.”

Mr Mills has been a part of the BBC for decades, joining Radio 1 in 1998 as its early breakfast presenter.

Seven years later in 2005, he made the move from early mornings to an early-evening weekday slot as he filled in for Sara Cox, who was on maternity leave.

When Ms Cox decided not to come back, Mr Mills kept the reins of the slot and The Scott Mills Show was born.

In 2022, Mr Mills headed over to Radio 2, landing the 2pm-4pm slot, replacing Steve Wright in the Afternoon.

Last year, Mr Mills took on the coveted breakfast show slot from Zoe Ball.
