Politicians’ desperation to reach net zero is holding back Britain’s manufacturing industry, says the boss of Halcyon Days.
Pamela Harper, whose luxury brands businesses have been favoured by the royal family, says that there must be relief for firms like hers who have high-energy costs.
The Government is keen for businesses to swap fossil fuels for electricity generated from renewables.
But Halcyon Days uses energy-guzzling gas-fired kilns to produce fine bone china and hand-crafted enamels.
It also makes jewellery, such as a £150 Salamander Toque Bracelet worn by the Princess of Wales at her carol concert.
She said: ‘We need some relief through our national energy strategy, which I think is being pressured far too quickly to get to net zero. We need more small nuclear, we need hydrogen.
