Rochdale are looking at alternative grounds to stage two home games while the pitch is relaid at the Crown Oil Arena.

Dale have already had two home matches postponed this season due to a waterlogged pitch, against Southend United in September and Scunthorpe United earlier this month.

They have used a special cover to stop more games going the same way, but have said it is not sustainable.

Instead, work will begin on 7 December, a day after the rearranged Southend fixture, to install new drainage and then a hybrid playing surface.

As this is carried out, the club say they are in “advanced discussions”, external over where the matches against Hartlepool United on 30 December and Brackley Town on 3 January will be staged.
