Ring has refreshed one of its most unique doorbell cameras, the Peephole Camera.

This clever camera is designed to replace the peephole already in your front door, letting you upgrade to a feature-packed security system without a drill or screws. Even better, the new-and-improved Ring Peephole Camera 2K still ships with a circular peephole, so you can still check who’s at the door before you unlatch.

Since the Peephole Camera 2K replaces an existing peephole, there’s no need to drill. It’s battery-powered too, so there’s no need to worry about wires

But unlike a traditional peephole, this Ring camera captures everything in crisp 2K video quality. Recordings will be stored in the cloud, where you can watch or download from any device, from a smartphone to a desktop PC. You can also share the footage with family, friends, or local law enforcement.

Be one of the first to upgrade to the Ring Peephole Camera 2K

The new Ring Peephole Camera 2K is a renter-friendly smart security camera that replaces a standard door peephole without drilling or wiring. It offers the latest Retinal 2K video, head-to-toe views thanks to a new titled mounting, 6x zoom, two-way talk, motion alerts, Alexa compatibility, and a rechargeable battery. It fits standard peepholes and installs in about 10 minutes.

The wide-angle lens and pixel-packed 2K quality capture visitors from head-to-toe, so you can see exactly who is at the door, or loitering at the edge of your property. For the first time, this peephole-compatible design supports 6x zoom from its camera.

The slimline security device runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which makes installation straightforward since there’s no wiring needed.

If you’re not at home, the built-in microphone and speaker system lets you speak to whoever is at the door — helpful if you want a parcel left on the porch or you want to reassure visitors that you’ll be home in a few minutes. Each time that motion is detected by the built-in camera, devices with the Ring app installed will receive an alert.

Ring Peephole Camera 2K is popular with those who rent — and might not have approval from their landlord to start drilling into the doorframe to install a traditional Ring doorbell — or those who live in an apartment building, since this feature-packed alternative fits into the existing hole and can be removed just as easily when it’s time to move.

Amazon-owned Ring will charge £79.99 for the Peephole 2K camera, although you’ll need a monthly Ring subscription from £4.99 to see previews of any motion alerts and access all recordings in the cloud. It’s available to preorder now, with the UK release date scheduled for August 19, 2026.

It replaces the current Ring Peephole camera, which launched back in mid-2019. It originally launched as the Ring Door View Cam, before being rebranded as the Ring Peephole Camera in 2023, although it kept the same specifications and features.

This isn’t the only new camera launched by Ring, which has announced a refreshed Outdoor Camera 2K designed to monitor the exterior of your home.

This second-generation camera is built to offer round-the-clock recording and comes with a choice between wired or battery-powered versions, depending on what works best for your setup.

The £99 Outdoor Camera 2K arrives with boosted 2K video resolution, Night Vision for better performance in challenging low-light conditions, and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom

You’ll benefit from 2K video clarity, night vision for after-dark monitoring, and zoom functionality that extends up to six times for closer views of any activity. According to the team at Ring, this new-and-improved camera performs better in low-light conditions compared to previous versions.

It’s built to withstand British weather conditions, so rain and cold won’t stop it working. You can choose between black or white finishes to match your home’s exterior. The Outdoor Camera 2K costs £99.99.

You won’t have to wait long to get your hands on either device. The Outdoor Camera 2K goes on sale from August 12, giving you just a few weeks to decide if it’s right for your home.

Both cameras arrive during peak summer, so you’ll have them installed well before the darker autumn and winter months when home security becomes even more important for many households.
