Across the north-west of England, people are planning to commemorate Remembrance Day and pay their respects to soldiers who died in wars and remember all those affected by conflict.
A range of processions and services have been arranged across the region on Sunday, with events listed below by county and then in alphabetical order.
Cheshire
Chester: Representatives of the city, council and armed forces will gather at Chester Cathedral at 10:15 GMT to mark Remembrance Sunday.
There will be a two-minute silence at 11:00 at the war memorial.
Halton: In Widnes, a parade will arrive at the war memorial in Victoria Park at 10:45.
In Runcorn, a procession will assemble at St Michael’s Church on Greenway Road at 14:30 and a service will be held at the war memorial at 15:00.
Northwich: A procession begins at 09:30 from Victoria Car Park and a service will be held at St Helens Parish Church at 10:00 followed by the act of remembrance at the war memorial on Church Road.
Warrington: The mayor of Warrington will join war veterans, religious leaders and members of the armed forces, with a parade setting off at 10:20 and a service at the war memorial, Bridge Foot, at just before 11:00.
Greater Manchester
Manchester: Ahead of the two-minute silence, a procession of veterans, military personnel and cadets will begin their march from John Dalton Street to the war memorial in St Peter’s Square at 10.25.
The civic procession will depart from Mount Street at 10:40.
Rochdale: The remembrance service will take place at Rochdale Memorial Gardens.
The parade will march from 10:50 and the service will take place at 10:55.
Tameside: The remembrance parade will assemble on Market Street at 9:00 and will march to Ashton Parish Church, proceeding then to Ashton War Memorial for wreath-laying at 10:45.
Wigan: The Wigan procession will leave the Town Hall on Library Street at 10:30 and the service will be held at the war memorial in All Saints’ Gardens.
A service will then be held at the parish church.
Lancashire
Accrington: A service is to be held at the Oak Hill Park war memorial at 10:45.
Free transport will be available at 10:00 from Accrington Bus Station.
Blackpool: A remembrance service will be held at the war memorial at 10:55.
There will be a two-minute silence, a service and wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a parade.
Burnley: A remembrance service will be held at the Peace Garden, Croft Street.
The service will start shortly before 11:00 and members of the public attending are asked to be at the Peace Garden no later than 10:45.
Chorley: A parade will begin at St Thomas Road at 10:30 and make its way to Astley Park for a service at the war memorial from 10:45.
Ormskirk: A service will be held at Ormskirk Parish Church at 10:40.
The parade will march from the war memorial in Coronation Park to the church at 10:15.
Lancaster: A service at the Priority Church at 09:15 will be followed by a procession through the city to Lancaster Town Hall starting at 10:30.
A service in the Garden of Remembrance at the town hall will then begin at 10:50.
Merseyside
Liverpool: A service will take place on the plateau at St Georges Hall.
The Band of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and The Pipes and Drums of The Liverpool Scottish Regimental Association will perform from 10.40am, leading up to the service at 11:00.
Several of Liverpool’s landmarks will be lit up in red from Friday through to Monday.
St Helens: Residents wishing to pay their respects are invited to congregate at Victoria Square, St Helens Tow Centre, at 10:30 on Sunday.
A parade will make its way from Corporation Street to the war memorial near St Helens Town Hall.
The ceremony will open with a welcome and prayers before the square observes a two-minute silence at 11:00.
Wirral: A civic service starts at 10.55 at the war memorial in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.
A two-minute silence will be observed at 11:00, followed by a traditional service of remembrance.
