Range Rover has unveiled the first glimpse of its new GT grand tourer as the brand prepares to launch a new era of vehicles for its customers.

The Range Rover GT will be the fifth member of the Range Rover family as the prototype vehicle finishes final global testing.

The iconic British marque has wrapped the GT in a camouflage design to highlight its “sleek silhouette and coupé proportions”.

Customers will be able to get their hands on the Range Rover GT initially as a battery electric vehicle.

Further flexibility is planned for future models to allow for a fully hybrid vehicle option later in its lifecycle.

The Range Rover GT will be the first all-electric Range Rover from its new EMA platform, which is manufactured in Halewood, Merseyside.

Further details about the sleek Range Rover GT are expected to follow later this year as Jaguar Land Rover continues with its House of Brands strategy.

Range Rover explained that the prototype vehicle is inspired by the landscape surrounding its headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

It stated: “The camouflage design uses local topographic contours as the basis for a flowing gold pattern that evokes the vehicle’s grand touring character and sense of journey.”

The digital design of the vehicle draws from the technology included in the vehicle, with the GT being the “most technologically sophisticated Range Rover ever created”.

Range Rover has released glimpses of the interior of the GT, showing off seats and a dashboard with woven textiles to hide premium speakers.

A single screen has been paired with a driver display, rather than having a traditional instrument cluster.

The manufacturer explained that the GT creates a “sanctuary of calm” with a particular focus on reducing visual and acoustic noise.

A Range Rover staple also returns, namely a concealed air vent running across the width of the cabin.

Martin Limpert, managing director of Range Rover, said the GT blends electric vehicle performance with all-terrain capability, reflecting its vision of a modern grand tourer.

He added: “The Range Rover GT will redefine the grand‑touring segment with the ability to deliver beautiful and engaging GT poise, proportions and long‑distance refinement while offering capabilities no conventional GT can match.

The Range Rover GT could become available as a hybrid vehicle in the coming years

“We have spent the last few years working obsessively on the fundamentals of the GT formula, reinterpreted in a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover way.

“The result is the most car‑like, yet unmistakably capable, Range Rover ever created, now possible on our electrified EMA architecture – complementing our existing powertrain portfolio to deliver a complete set of options for every customer need.”

JLR’s House of Brands, which is made up of Jaguar, Range Rover, Defender and Discovery, has become an integral strategic foundation for the brand in recent years.

It recently outlined that its House of Brands strategy would be instrumental in targeting “medium‑term double‑digit revenue growth”.
