Watch the moment Rachel Reeves took a swipe at Nigel Farage while delivering her annual Spring Statement in the House of Commons this afternoon.

The Chancellor shifted blame onto an array of issues for Labour’s economic figures – including Brexit and Liz Truss’s “disastrous” mini-budget.

“It was cheered on by the Leader of the Opposition and by the honourable Member for Clacton,” the MP for Leeds West and Pudsey slammed.

Looking around with jeers going up in the room, Ms Reeves said with faux shock: “Oh, he’s not here today.”

She continued: “Mr Speaker, five Prime Ministers, seven Chancellors, 11 plans for growth.

“And at the end of it all, the only parliament on record where living standards were worse at the end than they were at the start, and a £22 billion black hole in the public finances. That is their legacy.

“And make no mistake, the Tory tribute act up there. They would do exactly the same thing,” she crowed across the Commons, pointing at Reform’s gaggle of MPs.

“They may have changed the colour of their rosettes, but the British people won’t forget that they are the exact same people who wrecked our public services and wrecked our public finances in the Tory Government.

“The same people, the same policies and the same disastrous outcomes for working people.”
