Shoppers have been notified that a kitchen appliance poses a safety risk and has therefore been recalled from users.
A defect in the Empower Power XL Self-Cleaning Juicer could cause cuts, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) warned.

The OPSS warned Britons: “The product has a metal mesh filter, which could fail and break through the plastic, resulting in the risk of cuts to the user.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
“The products have been recalled from end users. Consumers in possession of the affected models should stop using the product immediately.
“Access the Prod Protect website for further information and to obtain a refund: https://recall.prodprotect.com/juicer.”
The official product recall notice reads: “Empower Brands of Middleton, WI Recalls PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicer Models SHL90-SC and SHL96 due to potential for the product to rupture during use, allowing for pieces of the product to be expelled and strike consumers, creating a risk of laceration; or to leave small particle shavings in the juice, creating a risk of ingestion of small particles.
“This recall only affects PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicer Models SHL90-SC and SHL96. You can check the model of affected Juicers by looking at the rating label on the unit.
“The rating label is located on the bottom of the unit if you have a SHL96, or the side of the unit if you have a SHL90-SC.
“If you have a juicer that is affected by this recall, immediately stop using the recalled product.
“You may register for this recall by clicking the ‘Register’ button below to receive a refund, which will be issued as a prepaid virtual Mastercard card or a physical Mastercard card, per your selection.
