Princess Eugenie’s life in Portugal could play a direct role in shaping Sarah Ferguson’s future living arrangements, GB News has been told, as discussions continue over what will happen once Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor leaves Royal Lodge.

Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have lived partly in Portugal since 2022 with their sons August, four, and Ernest, two, sharing their time between a villa in the coastal region of Comporta and Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace.

Their young family’s established base overseas is now being seen as a potentially significant factor as Sarah prepares to make independent accommodation plans.

Robin Edwards, a leading property expert, told the People’s Channel that Portugal’s privacy, climate and relative anonymity make it one of the most realistic overseas options for Sarah should she look beyond the UK.

He said the presence of Princess Eugenie and her family could offer a level of stability and support that would be difficult to replicate elsewhere.

Mr Edwards, a property buying agent at Curetons, said: “Portugal could also be another option, particularly as Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack and their children currently live there and have split their time between a luxury villa in Comporta and their home at Ivy Cottage in Kensington Palace since 2022.”

He added: “The warmer climate, as well as the lower profile and degree of anonymity that Portugal offers, could appeal to Sarah.”

Speaking about additional possibilities, he said: “Switzerland would be a plausible choice, given Andrew and Fergie’s previous links to Verbier, where they co-owned a luxury ski chalet together, and the region’s discretion toward wealthy exiles.”

The property expert also pointed out that close family ties often play a defining role in relocation decisions, particularly for high-profile individuals whose movements attract public and media interest.

Interest in Sarah’s next steps has intensified since Buckingham Palace announced on October 30 that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor would lose his remaining styles and titles.

The Palace confirmed he would no longer use his princely designation and would move from Royal Lodge into private accommodation on the Sandringham estate.

GB News understands that Sarah will make her own living arrangements, separating her future housing position from Andrew’s for the first time in decades.

The shift leaves Sarah without the informal protection and logistical stability that stemmed from Andrew’s tenancy at Royal Lodge.

It also raises practical questions about her long-term options, with privacy, security and proximity to family likely to be major considerations.

Sarah moved into Royal Lodge in 2008, while her husband had signed a 75-year lease with the Crown Estate five years prior.

Princess Eugenie’s established life in Portugal, combined with the country’s appeal to high-net-worth residents seeking discretion, has created what experts describe as a logical pathway should Sarah choose to base herself overseas in the future.

Since welcoming their children, Eugenie and Jack have maintained a low-profile existence in Comporta, a region known for its open coastline, sparse development and quiet community.

For Sarah, who remains a public figure but is no longer tied to royal property arrangements, the ability to spend time near immediate family could prove a substantial draw.
