Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have announced the name of their third child, born two weeks ago.

Taking to Instagram to reveal the news, Eugenie told the world that Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank will be the name of the newborn baby.

“Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home,” the post reads.

“Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.”

The name Adelaide is said to be partly inspired by Queen Adelaide, married to William IV, while Elizabeth is a tribute to Eugenie’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Eugenie’s Instagram post included heartwarming photos of baby Adelaide’s two older brothers, August and Ernest, holding her.

Baby Adelaide was born on Monday, August 3, in Lisbon, Portugal, making the newborn just the third member of the British Royal Family to arrive on foreign soil in over a hundred years.

The infant, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces, was delivered at 6.20pm local time.

Jack and Eugenie’s daughter joined a very small group of royals born outside Britain in recent memory.

Her second cousin Princess Lilibet of Sussex arrived at a hospital in Santa Barbara, California, in June 2021, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from senior royal duties the previous year.

Maud Windsor, born in Los Angeles in 2013 to Lord Frederick Windsor and Sophie Winkleman, represents another rare overseas arrival.

She was the first grandchild of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and holds 56th place in the succession.
