Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie sit below Prince Harry in the latest royal popularity rankings conducted by YouGov.

Just 30 per cent of respondents expressed a favourable opinion of Beatrice, whilst Eugenie fared slightly worse at 29 per cent.

Their cousin Prince Harry, who stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and has been openly critical of the institution, secured a positive rating of 33 per cent.

The findings mark a notable shift from earlier polls, in which both sisters outperformed Harry.

Having maintained a relatively low profile throughout the year amid controversies involving their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, the pair now find themselves near the bottom of the family’s approval ratings.

What makes the polling data particularly striking is the mechanics behind the ranking.

Harry attracted far greater hostility, with 58 per cent of those surveyed holding an unfavourable view of him, compared with 34 per cent who felt negatively about each of the sisters.

Only 9 per cent of respondents were unsure about Harry.

The Duke of Sussex’s recent visit to the UK may have given his standing a boost.

The crucial factor, however, lies in the high proportion of people who simply had no strong feelings either way about Andrew’s daughters.

Some 36 per cent said they did not know what to make of Beatrice, and 37 per cent gave the same response for Eugenie.

It is this sizeable pool of undecided respondents that ultimately drags the sisters’ net approval below that of Harry, despite his significantly higher disapproval figures.

One possible explanation is that Harry’s recent visit to the UK gave his standing a boost.

Alternatively, the scandals engulfing their parents may have dragged Beatrice and Eugenie’s ratings down sharply.

Despite their diminished standing, both sisters remain comfortably ahead of Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, who managed a positive rating of just 22 per cent.

The only member of the family to fare worse than Meghan Markle was the sisters’ own father.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor recorded a mere 2 per cent favourable rating, with an overwhelming 92 per cent of respondents viewing him negatively, placing him firmly at the very bottom of the royal popularity table.
