Prince William has been tipped to take a hard line with Prince Andrew in the future, following the Duke of York’s apparent victory in his battle to remain at Royal Lodge.

The long-running row between Prince Andrew and King Charles over the future of the 30-room Windsor property appears to have ended in Andrew’s favour.

Reports suggest the Duke of York has successfully resisted pressure to vacate Royal Lodge and move into a smaller residence, such as Frogmore Cottage.

According to the Express, Prince Andrew presented King Charles with a legal document confirming that he is entitled to stay at the Royal Lodge under the terms of his lease.

The monarch, despite initially pushing for a move, has reportedly backed down after the confrontation.

Prince Andrew is said to be “all smiles” following the development, having “won the Royal Lodge row with Charles”.

But while the King may have stepped back from the dispute, royal fans believe Prince William could take a much tougher approach if and when he inherits the responsibility of managing royal residences.

Social media users reacted strongly to the news of Andrew’s win, with many warning that this may only be a temporary reprieve.

One royal fan said: “Andrew won the battle but will lose the war. William will be merciless.”

Another wrote: “I suggest Prince Andrew is such a disgrace that I would’ve kicked him out come hell or high water.”

A third predicted: “King Charles has given up trying to evict him. So it’s not a real win. I have a feeling Prince William will have to deal [with] uncle Andy!”

A fourth echoed the sentiment, warning: “If Charles gave up, William won’t.”

Royal Lodge has been Andrew’s official residence since 2003, and he shares the home with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

As a non-working royal, his continued occupation of the grand Windsor property has drawn criticism in light of the King’s efforts to slim down the monarchy and reduce royal expenditure.

It remains to be seen how long Andrew will remain at the property, and how his nephew may choose to handle the situation in the years to come.
