Prince William avoided discussion of royal scandals during his time in Brazil, while offering comments that could be interpreted as a veiled reference to Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

The Prince of Wales skilfully sidestepped questions about Royal Family controversies during a question-and-answer session, declining to directly address recent upheavals concerning his uncle.

During a “fireside” conversation with veteran journalist Christiane Amanpour in Rio de Janeiro, William faced direct questioning about recent changes within the Royal Family.

Ms Amanpour referenced William’s previous comments about pursuing “change for good” when he becomes king, pressing him to elaborate, given the family’s recent turmoil.

The heir to the throne diplomatically avoided engaging with the topic, which observers interpreted as a reference to Andrew’s disgrace.

Rather than addressing family matters, William redirected attention towards the Earthshot Prize participants, declaring: “I think the Earthshot Prize is a classic example of change. These people in here are the true action heroes of our time.”

He emphasised that meaningful transformation would emerge through supporting these environmental innovators rather than through his individual actions.

His response demonstrated a clear strategy of highlighting positive environmental work whilst avoiding discussion of internal royal affairs.

William’s diplomatic approach during the Brazilian engagement appeared to stand in marked contrast to more public discussions of royal matters by other family members.

One fan noted: “Unlike Harry, William doesn’t air the family laundry in public.”

The audience responded with applause when William said: “I want to surround myself with people who want to make change and do good in the world.”

Some observers interpreted this remark as a veiled nod to ongoing scrutiny surrounding Andrew, who is no longer a “prince”.

William’s Brazil visit occurred against the backdrop of significant developments concerning his uncle, with King Charles having recently removed Andrew’s “Prince” designation amid renewed examination of his connections to Epstein.

Andrew has additionally been required to vacate Royal Lodge, with plans for relocation to a private property within the King’s Sandringham estate.

The Prince of Wales was in Brazil to mark the fifth anniversary of his environmental initiative, having arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

The father-of-three maintained this focus throughout his time in South America, consistently steering conversations towards the achievements of Earthshot Prize nominees and winners rather than personal family dynamics.

The Prince spoke passionately about environmental leadership and its significance for future generations during the Brazilian event.

William told the audience: ‘You have to provide leadership and a vision that there’s good things to come and it’s not all negative’

He told the audience: “You have to provide leadership and a vision that there’s good things to come and it’s not all negative.”

William revealed how he reassures his children at bedtime, saying: “And for my children, particularly, knowing that the planet’s going to be in a better, healthier state because of the people in this room is something I love to tell them when they go to bed.”

He continued: “It’s going to be great, your future is going to be as bright as futures gone by and that’s a really important message for all us to hear.”

The Prince warned against pessimism, adding: “A world without hope and a world without positivity is a pretty depressing place.”

The timing of William’s Brazil trip proved particularly notable, with Prince Harry simultaneously conducting engagements in Toronto for Armed Forces commemorations around Remembrance Day.
