The Prince of Wales has issued a statement following the death of army medic Corporal Lucy Wilde.

William met Cpl Wilde during her time in the Welsh Guards, and he took to social media to express his upset at her death.

Cpl Wilde was found dead in her barracks in Warminster earlier this month.

In his message, the Prince of Wales wrote: “It was with immense sadness that I learned of Cpl Lucy Wilde’s death.

“I remember our meeting during her time with the Welsh Guards, where her warmth and compassion were unmistakable.

“She served with courage and distinction as a medic and sought always to help others. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Colonel William.”

Cpl Wilde was found dead in her barracks in Warminster, Wiltshire, on February 5.

The Ministry of Defence said the circumstances surrounding the death of the 25-year-old were being investigated.

Her brother, Josh Wilde, described her as “strength wrapped in softness” in a tribute, adding that she served in the army with “courage and pride” and “lived with resilience.

“She adored long walks with her dog, the peace of nature, books that transported her, and the sense of freedom found outdoors,” he added.

“She had a warmth and loyalty that was rare, a heart that gave even when she had been hurt.”

Her former unit, the Welsh Guards, released a tribute describing Cpl Wilde as an “exceptional medic” who brought “warmth, humour and professionalism” to everyone she worked alongside.

The statement celebrated her composure in demanding situations, noting: “She was known for her calmness under pressure, tireless care for others, and unwavering commitment to her role.”

“Lucy had a rare ability to lift those around her. She was popular, genuine and deeply respected. Her loss is felt across the Battalion and far beyond,” the tribute continued.

Her courage was particularly evident during a mass casualty incident in the Falkland Islands, where she treated injured Guardsmen after a vehicle overturned.

Cpl Wilde’s influence beyond the barracks was also acknowledged in the tribute, noting through her social media presence she “inspired many more, offering guidance on fitness, service life and the journey into the British Army”.

Beyond her military duties, the popular medic worked as a personal trainer and had built a following of more than 18,000 followers on TikTok, where she regularly shared workout videos and content about her experiences serving in the armed forces.

A friend expressed disbelief at the news, saying “everyone is stunned”.

“Lucy was incredibly popular and had just bought a new puppy,” they added.

“She had seemed really happy before she died.”
