Prince William has taken to social media to celebrate Aston Villa’s dramatic victory over Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The Prince of Wales’s team beat the Gunners 2-1 with a last-minute strike from Villa’s Emi Buendia.

William shared online: “Surely Emi Buendia for man of the match @footballontnt?!

“An incredible game! UTV! (Up The Villa).”

The Prince of Wales has got his son, Prince George, into his love of Aston Villa, with the pair seen this year at an incredible fixture between the Villains and French side, Paris Saint-Germain.

William and George travelled to Paris to support Aston Villa, seen jumping in the air in celebration as Morgan Rodgers put the Midlands side ahead in the game.

Prince George and William were captured embracing each other in a heartwarming gesture.

The fixture marked the second time George has been seen cheering on Villa.

Although the Prince of Wales is a devoted Villa supporter, he has often spoken about his wish to allow his children to choose their own teams rather than follow Villa because of him.

Despite this, George appears to be devoted to the Midlands side.

Today’s victory for William’s side puts them just three points off top spot in the Premier League.

The last time Aston Villa won England’s top-flight league title was in 1981.

Their win today has blown the Premier League title race wide open in a deserved victory for Villa boss Unai Emery’s side.

They had looked like being denied as Leandro Trossard’s early second-half goal cancelled out Matty Cash’s first-half fizzer, and the Gunners were holding firm.

But Buendia’s strike at the death won it and delivered a potentially damaging blow to a club who have a nervous disposition when it comes to sticking it out in title races.

Mr Emery, who was replaced at the Emirates Stadium by Mikel Arteta, will deny his side can win the league, but they are a match for anyone and will be feared.

Villa will be watching how Manchester City get on, who play Sunderland today.

As well as Chelsea, facing Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium.

The Villains’ next game is FC Basel in the Europa League before facing West Ham United in London.

William, no doubt, will be keeping an eye on the scores as his side chases glory.
