Prince Louis has suffered heartbreak after being left at home once again for the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final.

The Prince and Princess of Wales opted to treat only Prince George and Princess Charlotte to a day out at the All England Lawn Tennis Club this afternon.

The eight-year-old royal is yet to make his long-awaited Wimbledon debut.

Perhaps it is Louis’ rapidly building reputation as a cheeky and rowdy young man that means William and Catherine feel the strict rules at Wimbledon may be too much for the youngster.

Despite this, he has displayed excellent composure throughout important family engagements this year, such as Trooping the Colour.

In 2023, Catherine admitted at the men’s singles final Louis was left “very upset” at missing the event.

The Princess of Wales did treat Louis and Charlotte to a secret outing at the Royal Ballet School on Friday evening.

That trip itself could have been more tailored to Charlotte’s liking, whose fondness for ballet is well-documented, with her mother confirming back in 2017 the young princess “absolutely loves” the art form.

Louis, though, has an evident admiration for tennis. As she met players and club staff ahead of yesterday’s Ladies’ Singles Final, Catherine let slip Louis has been asking to be a ball boy.

There, the princess spent time speaking with Tristan Wesley, Senior Guest Experience Manager at Wimbledon, whom she thanked for his efforts and “for having me”.

The future queen also met ladies’ doubles finalists Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani.

Catherine bonded with Canadian Dabrowski, who was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in April 2024. The Princess of Wales was herself diagnosed with cancer in the same year.

The tennis ace, who underwent two surgeries, radiation, and hormone therapy, shocked Catherine when she revealed she initially kept her diagnosis secret.

“I think movement, sport, exercise, really helps people get through treatment,” Catherine said.

“It also helps remind us that our body is still strong, and you can do the things you love doing.”

Following this, Catherine took her spot in the Royal Box next to Czech-US former tennis star Martina Navratilova as they watched Linda Nosková beat Karolína Muchová in a dramatic final.

Today, she is joined in the box by William, George and Charlotte as they watch No1 seed Jannik Sinner take on Alexander Zverev on Centre Court for the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy.
