Prince Harry is hoping his two children with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, can be “educated in the UK,” a friend of his has suggested.

The Duke of Sussex currently resides in California with his young family but “loved being back” in Britain last week, his spokesman confirmed.

Harry had travelled to the UK on Monday for a four-day trip which resulted in a reunion with King Charles, the first meeting between the father and son in over a year and a half.

Now, it has emerged that the duke is weighing the possibility of having Archie and Lilibet attend schools in England.

“I can tell you that Harry wants to educate the children here in the UK,” a friend of the prince said.

The acquaintance believed Harry was anxious his children could “miss out” on the lifelong contacts made at elite schools, in reference to the the three children of his brother Prince William and Princess Kate.

“Harry feels his children are missing out on the extensive family network that their niece and nephews are enjoying,” they said.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Princess Louis currently attend the Lambrook School in Berkshire. While the location of George’s secondary education, due to begin next year, remains unconfirmed, the current favourite remains Eton – which both William and Harry attended.

“Harry wants his children to have the very best education. He has retained his closest friendship group of confidants from his days at school at Ludgrove and Eton,” the source continued.

“He wants that for his own children,” they told the Daily Mail.

However, the duke is expected to face some resistance form Meghan who is said to oppose sending Archie and Lilibet to boarding schools.

“There is still some negotiation for Harry to have with Meghan. The King, however, is delighted,” the duke’s friend said.

The friend said King Charles was ‘delighted’ by the idea, suggesting it may have been broached during his reunion with Harry

The source’s final comment appears to suggest Harry’s schooling ambitions for his children may have been broached with King Charles during their meeting last week.

Previously, the duke had expressed his happiness with Archie and Lilibet’s upbringing in the US.

“I enjoy living and bringing my kids up here, it’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live and it feels as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me,” he said, referencing the late Princess Diana, at a conference in New York City.

Representatives for the Duke of Sussex have been approached for comment.

Harry and Charles’s meeting at Clarence House on September 10 lasted for just under an hour, with Buckingham Palace confirming the father and son had met for “a private tea”.

Later, the duke said his father was “great” when quizzed about the meeting at an Invictus Games event.

“He’s obviously loved being back in the UK,” a spokesman for Prince Harry said of the last week.

They continued it had allowed the duke to spend time “catching up with old friends” and “colleagues”.

The spokesman said that he also greatly appreciated: “Being able to support the incredible work of the causes that mean so much to him.”

Following his UK trip, Prince Harry made a surprise journey to Ukraine where he gave advice on “opening up to friends and family”.
