He acknowledged that while problematic behaviour may not cease entirely, he remains hopeful it will evolve. Harry also signalled a willingness to move beyond the disputes of recent years, framing the decision in broader terms. “What happened back then was then,” he told Baron. “With everything else that’s going on in the world, there’s aspects of the past that I’m sure all of us – me, my family, and some of the British press – that we’d all like to leave behind us and work for the greater good.”

Asked directly whether he is grieving the strained bonds with his brother and his father, the prince was unequivocal. “Yes, of course,” he replied, describing fractured family dynamics as “another massively relatable issue for so many people” – from sibling disputes to severed ties between parents and children. He said the topic arises constantly in his conversations with others, and that people often look to his situation for hope. “People maybe look at us and go, ‘How are you gonna work it out? Maybe that will help me work my stuff out.'”

Harry was emphatic about his own intentions. “Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” he said, adding that reconciliation is “the key point.” While acknowledging that “scars stick around forever,” he urged letting go of the past, saying there is already “enough drama in the world” without perpetuating family conflict.

The prince also opened up about the loss of his mother, admitting he used to mask his pain without realising it. “When I was young, was I going out and having a good time with friends? Yes. Was I sometimes doing that to suppress the sadness of losing my mum? Yes. Was I aware of it at the time? Absolutely not,” he said.
