A man has been charged following an incident at the Manchester Central Mosque.

Darren Connor has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs.


The 55-year-old from Stockport has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this morning.

Another man arrested will face no further action in relation to the incident.

The suspect will appear at Salford and Manchester Magistrates later today

A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: “Darren Connor, a White British man of Gorton Road, Stockport has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs.

“He has been remanded in custody ahead of a scheduled appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, February 27 2026).

“The second man arrested will face no further action in relation to the incident at Manchester Central Mosque.

“This charge comes after two men were arrested following an incident at Manchester Central Mosque on Tuesday February 24, 2026.”
