A police investigation has begun into a large fire that destroyed several buses including at least one school bus at a depot in Greenock.

Two fire engines were despatched after reports of a blaze at the Lynedoch Street site just after 16:30 on Friday.

There were no reports of injuries and the flames were quickly brought under control with firefighters leaving the scene later that evening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing”.
