England’s Luke Humphries claimed his second ProTour title of the year with a 8-4 win over Jermaine Wattimena in the 17th round of the Players Championship.

Dutchman Wattimena, a beaten finalist earlier in the year at Players Championship 12, had taken a 2-0 lead but Humphries roared back.

The 31-year-old world number two averaged 104.89 against Wattimena – his sixth ton-plus average of the tournament in Leicester during a run to the final that included victory against in-form Wessel Nijman.

“There’s been moment this year when it hasn’t gone my way. But when it clicks for me I am one of the best players in the world,” Humphries told PDC Darts.

“It sets the standard for myself and it’s up to me to provide that a lot more than I do.”

There are 34 Players Championship events across the year, with the competition’s finals held in Minehead in November.
