Lord Peter Mandelson’s “disloyalty to our nation” is “unforgivable”, Daniel Kawczynski has told GB News.

Speaking to host Martin Daubney, the former Conservative MP hit out at the disgraced peer following the release of the Mandelson files.

He stated: “The Epstein thing is one thing, but actually sending and sharing market-sensitive information with a foreigner, I think is unforgivable.”

The 147-page document was released today ahead of Chief Secretary Darren Jones’ address to the House of Commons to update MPs on the matter.

Within the documents, it was confirmed Sir Keir was “warned” of Lord Mandelson’s links to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in December 2024 and the “general reputational risk” he posed.

The document also showed the disgraced peer was paid a settlement of £75,000 following his withdrawal from Washington after demanding an initial figure of £547,201.

Offering his reaction to the documents on the People’s Channel, Mr Kawczynski recalled his former role as a trade envoy, and how those in the role were given “extraordinarily market-sensitive information”.

He explained: “Speaking as a former trade envoy, we were given extraordinarily market sensitive information for negotiating with foreign governments.

“I could have made a fortune with that, but you have to have probity.”

Referencing an email from 2010 Lord Mandelson appeared to give Epstein advance notice of a €500billion bailout from the EU to save the euro, the ex-Tory MP accused the peer of being “disloyal” to his nation.

Mr Kawczynski said: “This is where I think his credibility is shot to pieces. People can respect mistakes, but to be disloyal to your own nation, that’s unforgivable.”

Issuing a warning to future Prime Ministers, he also warned that if they “overturn that tradition of appointing properly seasoned and trained diplomats and appoint former politicians”, they are “running a risk” similar to the Starmer-Mandelson scandal.

He told GB News: “The beauty of these British ambassadors is that they are trained properly, they are vetted properly, sometimes they come back from overseas to spend time in the Foreign Office.

“And you would have thought that the person who was sent to the most important diplomatic posting, to our most important ally, Washington, would have been through the most rigorous assessment. That clearly hasn’t happened.

“And I think it goes to show that future prime ministers, if they overturn that tradition of appointing properly seasoned and trained diplomats and appoint former politicians, than they are running this sort of risk.”

Mr Mandelson has previously said of his relations with Epstein: “I was never culpable or complicit in his crimes like everyone else.

“I learned the actual truth about him after his death, and he added that he had relied on assurances of his innocence. That turned out later to be horrendously false.”

Lord Mandelson has not responded to previous requests for comment, but we understand that prior to his arrest, his position was he had not acted criminally and did not act for personal gain.
