Perfect Pet Insurance, part of the Tedaisy Insurance Group, has expanded its lifetime insurance range with two new levels of veterinary fee cover for dogs and cats. The policies provide up to £7,000 or £10,000 in cover per policy year, across all eligible conditions.

The new options give pet owners additional flexibility, building on the insurer’s existing lifetime cover, which provides £5,000 for each eligible condition.

The higher annual limits are intended to offer greater financial support when pets require expensive treatment, particularly for serious or complicated illnesses. Under the existing £5,000 per-condition arrangement, the allowance applies separately to each eligible condition. By contrast, the new £7,000 and £10,000 policies have a combined annual limit covering all eligible conditions. This gives policyholders access to a higher amount of cover if the cost of treating one condition exceeds £5,000.

Both new policies provide lifetime protection, meaning the selected veterinary fee allowance is renewed each time the policy reaches its annual renewal date.

This feature can be important for pets with ongoing health needs, including arthritis, diabetes and skin allergies, where treatment and medication may be required over an extended period.

Why now

Rising veterinary costs are placing increasing pressure on household budgets and making the level of available pet insurance cover an important consideration.

The Association of British Insurers reported that pet insurers paid out a record £1.23 billion in claims during 2024. Published in May 2025, the figures showed a 4 per cent rise compared with the previous year, with the average claim standing at £685.

The ABI attributed the increase in part to higher veterinary fees, pointing to Office for National Statistics data showing a 9.1 per cent increase in prices for vets and other pet services during 2024.

Veterinary pricing has also become the subject of regulatory attention. Following its investigation into the UK veterinary services market, the Competition and Markets Authority ordered practices to make their price lists publicly available and cap prescription fees.

What Perfect Pet says

“Owners tell us the same thing again and again: they want to say yes to the treatment their vet recommends without doing the sums first,” said Paul Byrne, Group Chairman and CEO of Tedaisy Insurance Group.

“Referral work, advanced imaging and long-term medication are now part of everyday veterinary care, and a single year of treatment can run well past £5,000. Our new £7,000 and £10,000 levels mean that when one serious condition needs more than that, owners have more cover available towards it.”

Byrne continued: “Pet insurance has become an everyday financial product for millions of households. Our job is to make sure the cover keeps pace with the bills, not just the premiums.”

What comes with Perfect Pet lifetime cover

Alongside the new veterinary fee limits, customers can access the benefits included throughout Perfect Pet’s lifetime insurance range:

  • Insurance available from four weeks of age, with no upper age restriction for new policies
  • A 15 per cent discount when covering more than one pet
  • Free access to 24/7 Vet Assist calls with a veterinary nurse
  • Discounts on prescription medication

Perfect Pet currently holds an “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot, supported by more than 17,000 reviews.

The company was awarded Best Pet Insurance Provider UK 2025 at the Insurance Choice Awards and has a five-star Moneyfacts rating for dog insurance in 2026.

Available now

The £7,000 and £10,000 lifetime insurance options are available immediately for dogs and cats across the UK.

The price of each policy is determined by factors including the pet’s species, breed, age and location, together with the chosen level of cover.
