A 90-year-old pensioner has been forced to sell her house after losing a battle against a neighbouring glamping site’s expansion.
Yvonne Saddler has listed her three-bedroom home for £350,000 after living at the property for 32 years.
The widow, a retired factory worker living near Abergavenny, bought the property with her late husband, Brian, as their dream retirement retreat.
Brian Saddler, a retired engineer, died aged 91 from a heart attack just weeks ago.
Ms Saddler acknowledged the prolonged dispute over the glamping operation at Swallows Nest farm had taken its toll on his health, saying: “It certainly didn’t help.”
She listed the property with a local estate agent immediately after planners granted permission for additional shepherd’s huts at the neighbouring site.
The expansion saga began when the site owner applied to add more tents and accommodation alongside her alpaca herd at the smallholding.
Councillors initially rejected the proposal, a decision that left the Saddlers feeling “delighted and relieved”.

Labour councillor Dale Rooke argued at the time that tents would sit too close to neighbouring homes.
He told planners: “Tents are naturally not soundproofed so any shenanigans going on inside will be heard in the wider vicinity.”
However, Ms Pengelly later revised her application, proposing an additional shepherd’s hut and a mobile washroom could be stored during winter months.
Planners unexpectedly approved the amended scheme earlier this month, despite local residents’ formal objections.

Ms Saddler told The Sun this week: “Enough is enough. I don’t want to live here any longer now permission has been given for more huts and more people coming here to stay.”
She described the decision to sell as heartbreaking, adding: “Brian and I spent so many wonderful years here.
“We bought it because it was so beautiful and peaceful. The only sound we could hear was the birds and it was wonderful.”
The tranquillity was shattered once glamping began in the adjacent field.
“But since the glamping started in the field next door it’s been hell,” she said. “I have no choice but to see and find a flat somewhere in Abergavenny.”

Now widowed and facing the prospect of further disruption, she said: “Now I’m on my own I don’t think I can cope with it.”
The two shepherd’s huts already operating at the site had caused what the couple described as “intolerable stress”.
Mr Saddler previously told The Sun: “Our garden backs onto the field and when people are staying in the shepherd huts, we can hear every word they’re saying and not all of it is the kind of stuff we want to be listening to. There’s often a lot of swearing and drinking going on.”
