A pedestrian has died after being hit by a road sweeper truck in Salford, Greater Manchester.

The 64-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by the 15-ton (15,000kg) vehicle at about 08:15 BST on Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Salford, on Tuesday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died a few hours later. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was not hurt, GMP added.

The force has asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of it to come forward. There have been no arrests.
