A second person has died in hospital following a two-car crash in Fife.

The incident happened at around 23:10 on Friday on the B981, between Cluny and the Chapel junction roundabout.

Police said a 48-year-old woman, who was driving a Volkswagen Polo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three passengers from the car were taken to hospital but one, a 64-year-old man, died from his injuries on Sunday morning.

Officers said a passenger from the Polo remains in hospital.

A 33-year-old woman, who was driving the other vehicle, a Nissan Qashqai, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

She was also taken to hospital but has been discharged.

The road was closed to allow inquiries to be carried out and reopened at about 06:30 on Saturday.

Sgt Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman and man who died.

“Inquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers.”
