A man whose pregnant partner was killed in a 92 mph motorway crash said he is devastated to hear the offender will be eligible for early release from prison.

Calvin Buckley’s partner Frankie Jules-Hough, a 38-year-old mum-of-two and former Hollyoaks actress, was killed in a crash on the M66 in 2023, by Adil Iqbal.

It was earlier confirmed that driving offenders will not be blocked from the early release scheme, which will see thousands of prisoners in England and Wales effectively having their sentences commuted.

“I’m devastated,” Buckley told Breakfast. “To kill somebody and to have your sentence reduced is just not right. Our justice has been taken away.”

Iqbal had filmed himself speeding at 123mph before the crash and was jailed for 15 years.

“I understand there is a crisis, I agree that it needs to be addressed, but not at the expense of victims,” Buckley continued.

“Our life was about the children, building a future together.

“She was 17 weeks pregnant when she died.

“We’ve had that taken away.

“Any offender of that category who has caused catastrophic injuries or death by dangerous driving there is no way they should be up for early release.”
