Paddy Pimblett is on the mend after being rushed to hospital following his gruelling defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324 on Saturday night.

The Liverpool fighter lost his interim lightweight title bout by unanimous decision after going the full five rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

His wife Laura has since put worried fans at ease with a heartfelt update on social media.

“Us forever,” she wrote on Instagram. “For everyone asking, he is absolutely fine and will be back.”

The 31-year-old was released from hospital after having his injuries treated and even made it to his after-party later that evening.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has stepped in to protect Pimblett’s health following the punishment he absorbed during the contest.

Under state regulations, the Scouser has been handed a mandatory suspension of at least 30 days.

The ruling falls under Section 467.562 of the Nevada Administrative Code, which exists specifically to safeguard fighters after particularly brutal bouts.

Pimblett won’t be allowed to compete or even take part in full training sessions until he receives clearance from a commission-approved doctor.

Should medical professionals determine he needs additional recovery time, officials have the power to extend the suspension further.

Despite the disappointment of his first UFC loss, Pimblett remained gracious inside the Octagon afterwards.

He dedicated his performance to Julie Gittins, the mother of his close friend and training partner Liam Gittins, who passed away recently.

The proud Liverpool supporter also paid tribute to Reds legend Diogo Jota and his brother Andre, who died in recent months.

“I wanted to be walking away with that belt and I know how tough I am anyway. I don’t need to prove it to anyone,” Pimblett said.

“I’m 31, you haven’t seen the last of me. I’ll be back better.”

Gaethje was full of praise for his opponent’s durability after the war, declaring: “Scousers cannot get knocked out! This Scouser does not get knocked out. What a f***ing gangster!”

The new interim champion revealed he knew he had to put Pimblett on the back foot, acknowledging the Liverpudlian’s dangerous timing and skill.

UFC president Dana White confirmed during the post-fight press conference that Pimblett was sent straight to hospital as a precaution.

Interestingly, Gaethje himself declined medical attention despite being offered a hospital trip, insisting he was fine after their Fight of the Year contender.
