For decades, Stormont worked hand in hand with farmers to shape their agricultural law.

But in 2025, Northern Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs took a different approach.

Under the Permanent Secretary, officials moved closer to EU aligned policy. Now serious questions are being raised about the practices on that farm and whether the evidence stacks up. While the department has also been accused of blocking media access.
