Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has taken a swipe at Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch as he announces a “Boriswave Inquiry” alongside the party’s Home Affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf.

Taking aim at Mrs Badenoch, Mr Farage said: “Sadly, going back to single market rules is much easier than it should be, because the Conservatives did not deliver. And above all, Kemi Badenoch, when she was the minister in charge, had the opportunity to wipe away 5,000 EU regulations but chose not to.

“I’m a conservative, she said, not an arsonist. So for Starmer to go back to single market rules, to accept everything that’s new is very much easier because Brexit was not properly delivered in the way that those who voted for it wanted.”
