Watch the moment Nigel Farage branded Labour “authoritarian” over its bid to ban trail hunting as part of its animal welfare package.

With the Boxing Day tradition dating back centuries, meets across the British countryside are expected to attract crowds in the tens of thousands today.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Farage gave a rallying cry to rural communities, insisting that they “can win this” as he urged for Labour MPs to pile pressure on the Prime Minister.

“When nearly 50 Labour MPs rebel against their Government over the family farms tax, we can get them to do the same over trail,” he told the People’s Channel.

He continued: “Frankly, if you ban this, you may as well ban people going out with their dogs walking in the countryside.

“My dogs chase a mammal every single time I go out with them. It’s what happens. It’s the way the countryside works.

“I believe this is eminently winnable and what kind of country we’re living in. We are saying to people, you can’t go out and ride horses.

“You’re saying to people you can’t go out on a walk with more than two dogs, because if they chase a rabbit, you’ve broken the law.

“This is madness. It is big Government. It is authoritarian Government going way, way, way too far.

“We’re going to fight this and we’re going to win, and we’ll be back here next year on Boxing Day, believe me.”
