King Charles III’s speech describing slavery as “monstrous” makes the front of the i Paper, external, but the paper points out that he stopped short of offering an apology to Commonwealth leaders. The Daily Mail, external calls the address “punchier-than-expected” with the monarch insisting “we cannot change the past”. “Pointedly”, the Mail says, the King “reminded them that the Royal Navy led the way in ending the transatlantic slave trade”.

The Daily Telegraph, external leads on its campaign to scrap what’s described as a “chilling” trans law. It suggests the legislation risks criminalising parents who question whether their children are trans. Writing in the Telegraph, external, a former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Baroness Falkner, describes the law as an “unprecedented and unwarranted intrusion into family life”. The government says the draft bill will “outlaw a specific form of abuse”, while setting high bars that protect regular parenting.

Silhouettes of a still unnamed male celebrity feature on a number of front pages after he failed in a bid at the High Court to have his identity protected in relation to allegations of sexual misconduct. “Sex Pest Loses Gag Bid”, is the Sun’s headline, external, with a pen scribbled over where the name would be. The paper says the star is accused of inappropriate and exploitative sexual activities with multiple young women. The Daily Star, external reports that the celeb’s identity will stay “secret for now”, pending any appeal.

The Financial Times, external says that the Conservatives have turned to the former Prime Minister Lord Cameron, “to charm donors” and build on Kemi Badenoch’s revival. He is described as the “star attraction” for a Cities of London and Westminster Conservative association event next month where tickets will cost up to £345 a seat. “He’s a big draw”, is the view of one ex-Tory MP.

And finally, Kellogg’s has announced that Rice Krispies will no longer be made with rice grains. The new formulation will instead be a mix of rice flour and corn flour. The change has left the Times, external to ask: “presumably they will continue to be crispy”.
