Nearly half of Britons feel that King Charles and Queen Camilla’s State Visit to the US feel it should be cancelled, new polling reveals.
The royal couple are due to visit the States at the end of April, having officially accepted Donald Trump’s State Visit invitation.
His Majesty will hold talks with the US President Donald Trump and address both Houses of Congress during his visit to commemorate 250 years since the declaration of American independence.
Some 45 per cent of voters in the poll feel the trip should be cancelled, with Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green voters mainly opposed to it.

The visit will be Mr Trump’s first state dinner at the White House during his second term and mark His Majesty’s first trip to America as Britain’s monarch.
Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace announced that the King and Queen will visit the United States, aligning with the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Sir Keir Starmer will be hoping for the State Visit to strengthen the UK’s special relationship with the US, especially after a lengthy period of tension between the Prime Minister and the President.

REUTERSA statement from Buckingham Palace said: “Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”
The Palace mentioned that exact dates would be announced closer to the trip, but a few hours later, Mr Trump seemed to confirm them in a post on Truth Social.
The programme will include a state dinner at the White House and an address to Congress.

Mrs Trump, 55, shared the video on the First Lady’s social media account, where it has been viewed more than 100,000 times.
It showed black and white footage of the First Lady reviewing papers, talking with staff, and organising her plans for the visit.
The video is captioned: “Precision in every detail,” with an American and British flag and the date of the state dinner, April 28.
