A murder investigation is underway after the death of a woman in a housing estate.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were called to Lulworth Gardens, Wythenshawe, Manchester at about 08:30 GMT where they found the woman in his 30s unresponsive.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police tape and a blue forensic tent have been put up outside the property, with GMP asking anyone with information to come forward.

Supt Gayle Brister said: “I want to reassure the public that our officers are working tirelessly and following all lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident.

“We understand it may cause concern across our communities, however we believe there is no wider risk to the public,” he added.
