A number of properties have been evacuated in a Cheshire village after police believe a World War Two device was found.

A bomb disposal team was sent to Priest Lane, Mottram St Andrew, following the discovery.

The road was cordoned-off as officers assessed the device.

In a social media post, Cheshire Police’s Macclesfield branch said: “As a result of the incident, a number of properties in the local area have been evacuated and a police cordon is currently in place as a precautionary measure.”
